Welcome to Auckland Airport Pet Services. Pet Transport is a major part of a families move from one country to another and at Auckland Airport Pet Services we will arrange and carry out the transport of your cat or dog to your destination, whether it be Australia, UK, USA, or Europe. We are NZFSA registered and use only IATA approved crates for your pet’s journey.

So what exactly can we do?
Auckland Airport Pet Services can cover all the following services:

Initial Transport - Yes, we can collect your pet from your home!

Transport Crate - Yes, we supply IATA Approved Transport Crates!

MAF Veterinary Inspection - Yes, we'll take care of that!

Exporter Declaration - Yes, we'll take care of that!

Booking the Flight - Yes, we'll book the flight with your preferred airline. In most cases pets can be on the same flight as you!

Provide Pre-Travel Pet Accommodation - Yes, we have full boarding facilities available at special reduced rates at Brookby Pet Lodge!

Transport to the Airport - Yes, we'll ensure your pet departs and arrives to you safely!

So you literally take care of everything?
Yes. We even have our own Pet Boarding facility for pre-flight boarding at reduced rates, a JP on site and a local Vet just 5 mins away to ensure easy processing of your Pet’s Export Certificate- this is required for Australian destinations and must be completed within 72 hours pre- flight. If your destination is further afield then a visit to MAF is needed 24-48 hours pre-flight for the Export Certificate, but don't worry- we'll take care of that too.

Is there anything I should know about?
There are a couple of main points that are useful to know for anyone looking to move their pet overseas:

Dogs travelling to Australia need either proof of birth in NZ or having previously come to NZ from Australia. Council registration records or vaccination records are required for this and if not available this requirement can be replaced with a blood test.

Cats to Australia must have lived in NZ for the past 90 days before travelling to Australia and pass a general medical examination.

Cats and dogs travelling to UK and Ireland must be micro-chipped and be vaccinated for Rabies followed at 1 month by a blood test and 6 months later can enter UK. The 6 months can be spent either at large in NZ or in quarantine in UK. However, if a cat or dog has already had a previous Rabies vaccination then records must show no gaps in follow up vaccinations. For travel to most of Europe a Rabies vaccination is required at least 21 days before flight.

We will work with you to ensure your pet’s journey is safe and comfortable, from collection at your home or drop-off at our own Brookby Pet Lodge where we are well used to caring for cats and dogs with a big staff to ensure individual attention.
